Finally this movie is getting the proper release it deserves. One of my favorite foreign flicks of all time is being released on DVD here in the states, and on the Criterion label no less. I was forced to import this flick on VCD with barely readable subtitles, but this new release contains an all new transfer, commentary, documentary about the film, etc. Can’t wait for this one! Get it April 17th.

Man, this movie kicked so much ass! I knew nothing about the hardcore punk scene in the early 80’s and this documentary covers the genre pretty thoroughly. Amazing how short this period of music lasted, maybe 5 or 6 years? Great interviews from Black Flag, Minor Threat, Bad Brains and more.

Yikes. Battle Royale, one of my fav Japanese flicks of all time, looks like it will be coming state-side. But unfortunately not by the same director, actors, title, or plot. No, The Condemned takes Battle Royale’s premise, throws in a bunch of wrestlers (its a WWE film), and just adds some “big swinging dicks” Hollywood direction to give you a 90 minute game show of death. Yilck!!! It opens in April, will I be there opening night? Bet the house on it.

It’s visited by the likes of Patton Oswalt, Zach Galafianakis, Brian Posehn, David Cross, Todd Barry, and Louis C.K. just to name a few. Read up on the latest debates, news, show dates, and releases with an audience that shares a true love of the art of comedy.

My favorite anime series of all time. The story follows a highschool freshman cursed with not only ridiculous red hair, but a tendency toward the unlucky. He joins the basketball team to win the heart of a girl, and after discovering his skills grabbing rebounds, he gains a new respect for the sport and his team. This series runs 101 episodes and ran from 1994 - 1997 in Japan. Geneon attempted to release the entire series in the US but only got to episode 25. Luckily, fans have taken it upon themselves to translate the series and its readily available online and on ebay.

Here’s a great documentary about graffiti. Infamy profiles the lives and ambitions of some of today’s most noted street artists. Jase, Saber, Earsnot, and Claw are just a few of the talents you’ll see in this flick. Someone was gracious enough to put the whole thing on youtube. If you like the movie, support the cats who made it and pick it up on DVD.

If you’re looking to get in the sneaker game, or just wanting to learn more about it, this is a great documentary. Just For Kicks profiles the rise of sneaker culture and interviews those who have played key roles in it’s history. You’ll hear stories from the front lines of digging, collecting, even how not to get vicked!

Wow. I’m only 2 episodes in and already I’m hooked! They do a great job of making a total creep someone you really want to root for.

20/20 just had a great show profiling videos that are making the rounds on the internets and the people who submit and watch them. I had to post this one that I saw for the first time on the show tonight. PWND!!!
