Gonz Superskate Vulcanized Slip-On Shoes

Gonz Shoes

I need to get a pair of these new Adidas Superskate shoes by Mark Gonzales. They’ve had the superskate out for awhile but these are really nice. Black banding along the sole, green stripes, and a white canvas show off Gonz’s art and signature.

You can pick em up here.

Agassi Challenge Court

agassi.jpg

In junior high I couldn’t afford to get these. I had already gotten Air Huaraches so I was banned from yet another pair of kicks. Luckily, Nike in all their infinite wisdom has decided to re-release the Agassi endorsed Nike Air Challenge Court this spring, and now that I’m an adult (my better half would say otherwise) I’ll be copping a pair or two. There is some controversy however among the hardcore retro community in that they’re not genuine retro, the challenge court logo on the back and tongue have been replaced with a swoosh-type symbol an the colors aren’t exactly the same. Ah well…

Rogan vs. Menstealia

rogan.jpg

Wow. This controversy has taken the web video world by storm. Joe Rogan has been a strong defender of a comedian’s creative rights. When a comic starts stealing jokes, Rogan has always called them out on it regardless of their status in Hollywood. Recently at the Comedy Store in L.A. (a regular performance spot for both Rogan and Mencina) Rogan confronted Mencina on stage in front of an audience about his alleged joke stealing. The argument gets pretty heated and essentially destroys Mencina’s credibility. The confrontation was filmed and viewed by over 50,000 people on youtube before it was taken down by Carlos himself. Rogan has subsequently been banned from The Comedy Store and has also lost his creative representation (who also represents Mencina). Props to Rogan for putting that guy in his place, definitely pick up his CD from 2001 I’m gonna be dead someday and support a true comic.

Jordan Pack

Feeling these Jordan inspired Nike Dunk series that just dropped. Had to go out and cop a pair before they all disappeared. Each design emulates an original shoe from the Jordan series. I got my hands on the black Jordan IV Dunk.

Art History

Andy Warhol Camo

The other day we were talking about how little people know about Art History. Most people, even those who “studied” Art History in college, can barely articulate their favorite artist, art style, or even what they think is good or interesting.

We here at Persona Industries believe that art and the support of the arts promotes inventiveness and engages people in the human experience. When you feel the crushing stare of Rothko’s work or the overt smirk of Warhol’s work you’ll get what we’re talking about.

Until then, figure it out.

Nintendo Game & Watch

gamewatch.jpg

Before Nintendo changed history and made the Famicom, they released a series of handheld games under the “Game & Watch” banner. They were simple LCD games that also told the time. The series began in 1980 with the game Ball and ended in 1991 with Mario the Juggler. There is a huge sub-culture of Game & Watch collectors within the video game community, and some of the rarer ones can sell for upwards of $500! If you ever see one at a yard or garage sale, snatch it up, it may be worth a ton.
